There are so many great activities for the residents of Sugarmill Woods in Homosassa and the rest of Citrus County in February. From charity events to live concerts, there is something for everyone on the Nature Coast. No need to get out of town, we’ve got plenty going on locally. Check out all that Citrus County has to offer this February

1. Citrus Uncorked – February 7th, 5-9PM

Citrus Uncorked at Cavallo Estate WInery in Lecanto

Check out the all new Cavallo Estate Winery in Lecanto. The Citrus County Chronicle is hosting this premier event where guests will get to experience this great new venue. Attendees will sip on an assortment of blueberry wines produced at Cavallo Estate Winery. Nibble on cheese tastings and other delicious hor d’oeuvres with your ticket. Also, there will be professional cigar rollings by Serafin de Cuba. Enjoy the live entertainment by famous blues-man, Willie Green from Gainesville. All proceeds benefit Citrus County Blessings. 2. Citrus Empty Bowls – February 9th, 11AM-1PM

Join the fight against hunger in Citrus County at the Crystal Harley Davidson pavilion on Saturday, February 9th. The 2nd Annual Citrus Empty Bowls fundraiser benefits the local Community Food Bank. Purchase a $15 ticket and receive a hand-crafted ceramic bowl made by the Lecanto High School art students and a bowl of soup. Local area restaurants will provide the different soups. Additionally, attendees can participate int he auction for artisan bowls. Sample the soups and pick a favorite, all for a great local cause. Fore more information, visit their website.

3. Saving Abel Rockin’ Kings Bay – February 9th, 3-10PM

Saving Abel and Kings Bay Park in Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida

Are you ready to rock?! Downtown Crystal River will be rocking to the live concert by Capitol Records’ “Saving Abel.” Special guest performances by “Crown of Roses” and local band, “Paydyrt.” This exciting night of rock n’ roll will happen at the King’s Bay Park sound stage. “Saving Abel” has many popular singles that reached number one on several charts including, “Addicted,” “18 Days,” and “Drowning.” A popular rock band that has toured with Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold and also Nickelback across America. See them this February your own backyard, Citrus County. Gates open at 2PM. There will be numerous food trucks guests can purchase snacks from along with beer and wine that will benefit Citrus County Blessings. Get your tickets now online for only $18. 4. It’s A Jungle Out There – February 9th, 6PM-8PM

Rotary Club of Sugarmill Woods

The Sugarmill Woods Rotary Club puts on their signature event at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park ballroom. This year’s theme of “It’s A Jungle Out There,” encourages guests to dress up in their best safari or jungle animal costume. Your $50 ticket includes a catered meal, live music by the “George Dunham and Company” band, contests and more. Alcoholic drinks will be available at the cash bar. This February event benefits local Citrus County charities chosen by the Sugarmill Woods Rotary Club. 5. Friday Night Thunder – February 15th, 5-8PM

Every third Friday, downtown Inverness does small town right! Check out all the great cars at the Citrus MOPARS car cruise-in in downtown Inverness. Live music by the funky fun “Rhythm Express” band who will be performing to hits to celebrate Black History month. Shop the local downtown stores and restaurants for specials. Free to attend. 6. Spring Citrus Showcase of Homes- February 15th-March 3rd

Citrus County home builders will have their model homes available starting February for viewing to showcase their styles of homes. Attendees can pick up the annual Showcase of Homes publication from the Citrus County Chronicle that will guide guests throughout the showcase with photos, addresses and directions to each model. Showcase model homes are open 10AM-5PM, Monday thru Saturday and 12PM-5PM on Sundays. Visit their website to check out all of the entries and plan your tour of the homes.

7. Ozello Craft Show & Chili Cookoff – February 16th, 9AM-4PM

The Ozello Civic Association is hosting is 14th annual craft show and chili cook-off. This event is family friendly filled with lots of fun, food, music and unusual crafts. Enter their raffle contest for your chance to win a new Red Eddyline Model Kayak. The craft show begins at 9AM and the chili tasting starts at 11AM. If you’d like to taste the chili entries, the cost is $5 or pay $7 for a chili dinner (includes condiments and a drink). 8. Healthy Living Show – February 16th, 9AM-2PM

Live your best and most healthy life in 2019! Attend this free Citrus County February event featuring local physicians, clinics, dentists, weight loss, vitamins, hearing, skin car, alternative medicine and others who want to help you be the healthiest version of yourself. 9. Jim Blackshear Memorial Golf Outing- February 16th, 7AM-9AM

If you enjoy golf, this is the Citrus County February event for you! The Citrus County Builders Alliance hosts the annual Jim Blackshear Memorial Golf Outing at the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club. The golf tournament raises money for the local youth programs. Since 2013, this golf tournament has raised about $26,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County. Gather some golf buddies and hit the green for this great event. Entry fee of $60 per player. 10. 21st Annual Key Training Center Fashion Show & Tea – February 17th, 2PM-4PM

The Key Training Center’s Spring Vogue fashion show takes place at the Chet Cole Life Enrichment Center in Lecanto. This event will feature local community celebrities modeling the latest fashions from local businesses like The Cotton Club, Key Thrift Store and Labels. Live entertainment by Sally Langwah. Copp Winery will provide a wine bar at the event. All tickets include your first glass, complimentary coffee and tea bar and lights snacks and desserts. Attendees should deck out in their favorite crazy hat to participate to win prizes for Most Beautiful Hat, Most Creative Hat and “I Can’t Believe You’re Wearing That” hat.
